New found confidence, life-long friends, developing new skills, learning to become leaders and a chance to give something back to this planet - who could ask for more?
Judging by the smiling faces, photographic boards and speeches the recent graduates of two Green Corps teams could not have asked for more.
Green Corps is a Commonwealth Government youth development program which gives young people the opportunity to protect and conserve our environment for the next generation.
In July the participants of the Eastern Hills Foreshore and Bushland Assessment Project and the Save the Western Swamp Tortoise Project graduated after six months of rewarding physical, mental and exciting work.
Tasks between the two groups varied from community awareness, planting trees, building ponds, condition assessments, rehabilitation and the least favourite job - removing bamboo.
Both teams completed their Senior First Aid and several other certificates.
