Moylan welcomes real action for Pearce schools

The Hon Judi Moylan MP today said the announcement made by the Liberal State Government of 64 more schools taking on independent status shows real action towards educating our children.
The schools in the Pearce electorate are; Middle Swan Primary School and Ellenbrook Primary School.
“This is a real community based initiative that parents and schools are embracing as it allows them to have a bigger say in how their school is run,” Mrs Moylan said.
“The Liberal Party believes that parents should have a greater say and input into their children’s education, unlike the Rudd/Gillard Labor government who would rather listen to bureaucrats in Canberra.”
This second intake is almost double the original 34; the extra 64 schools will receive widespread training and workshop opportunities in the coming months to prepare them for IPS status.
Mrs Moylan said “It is refreshing to see real action in our education system at a time when the Federal Labor Government is providing so much uncertainty in Australia.”
Other schools have an opportunity to express their interest in becoming an Independent Public School with a third intake occurring in 2012.
