Additional Federal funding for the completion of Great Northern Highway between Hart Drive and Tee Tree Road, section 3B, has been welcomed by the Hon Judi Moylan MP.
Sufficient funds have been received through the federally approved transfer of funds from other projects funded under the 2006 Memorandum of Understanding for the Accelerated Great Northern, Great Eastern, Eyre and Victoria Highways Upgrade package.
This also includes the allocation of interest earned on the Memorandum of Understanding funds.
“I have worked closely with the Bindoon Safe Roads Committee, Main Roads and my Federal colleagues to achieve a desirable result for this stretch of road over several years,” Mrs Moylan, the Federal Member for Pearce, says.
“The announcement of this funding is reward for those who have dedicated so much time and have fought so hard for a safer Highway for the people of the Pearce electorate.”
Works for Project 3B will proceed immediately.
“There are still areas of concern on the Great Northern Highway and I will continue to work with all parties.
“However, this result indicates that progress is being made.”
Ian Watson of the Bindoon Safe Roads Committee said the Committee would work with Hon Judi Moylan MP, Access Alliance and Main Roads to ensure quality workmanship is maintained.
“We will do everything we can to see the work carried out in a safe manner with the community’s inconvenience kept to a minimum,” Mr Watson said.
