Moylan Welcomes Gidgegannup Phone Tower

Gidgegannup residents should now have improved mobile phone reception and internet access thanks to the opening of a mobile base station.
The new 81 metre high tower on the corner of Reserve and Toodyay road will be very much welcome by locals said the Hon Judi Moylan MP as phone coverage has been an issue in the area since about 2004.
“We have had reports of patchy coverage in the Gidgegannup region for quite some time, and I have been in contact with both Telstra at local and state levels as well as the previous Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator the Hon Helen Coonan about improving the service,” Mrs Moylan said.
“With the cessation of the CDMA network earlier this year, the need for Next G access became a high-priority.”
“Hopefully this tower will now mean residents have comprehensive mobile coverage and access to wireless broadband services.”
Sally Block, Chair of the Gidgegannup Progress Association said reliable mobile communication would benefit the high fire-prone community during accidents and emergencies, but would also encourage visitors and assist businesses.
