A record 410 nominations have been received from across Australia for participants, supervisors and projects for the 2003 Prime Minister’s Work for the Dole Achievement Awards.
Member for Pearce, Judi Moylan, said she was pleased to see that a Pearce project had been nominated for the awards.
The awards are divided into three categories: Best Work for the Dole Participant, Best Work for the Dole Activity, and Best Work for the Dole Supervisor.
The Work for the Dole project in Pearce nominated for the awards is the Whiteman Park Development Project. Westnet Employment Services is the organisation in charge of the project.
The project aims to design and construct a walkway through a wetlands area reconnecting two recreation areas at Whiteman Park, Lord Street, Whiteman.
“I congratulate the Westnet Employment Services on its nomination,” she said.
“These successful projects have been greatly welcomed by the local community and have had a positive impact on the participants’ lives.”
The awards will be presented later this year at a dinner hosted by the Minister for Employment Services, Mal Brough, in the Great Hall of Parliament House.
