LOCAL ORGANISATION WINNERS IN ROUND FIVE

A local project will share in $20 million in funding under the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy Local Answers initiative.
Member for Pearce, the Hon Judi Moylan MP has welcomed the funding for the Eastern Region Domestic Violence Services Network Inc.
Ms Moylan said the local project would further strengthen the Midland community by supporting local families.
“Projects funded under Local Answers aim to strengthen communities, by developing parenting and relationships skills, supporting children and families and encouraging leadership and volunteering to build proactive communities,” Ms Moylan said.
“Over 480 projects worth $70 million have been funded under previous rounds of the Local Answers initiative.”
The Eastern Region Domestic Violence Services Network will receive $52, 997 in funding to continue the Koolkuna Family Fun Programme, which is designed to strengthen the parenting skills of local woman who have been victims of domestic violence.
“Locally we will be able to better support families through the implementation of these projects. I congratulate the organisations which have received funding and look forward to hearing of the success of the programs over time,” Ms Moylan explained.
“It is the strong economic management of the Howard Government and our belief that at a local level, community organisations are well suited to devising local solutions to local problems that has led to the success of the Local Answers program.”
