The end result of a new capital grants program worth $15.1 million, has seen the official opening of Mindarie Senior College earlier this year.
Member for Pearce Judi Moylan officially opened the new Mindarie school.
She said the Federal Government had provided $8.85 million and the State Government had contributed $6.27 million towards the construction of a new high school at Mindarie to cater for Years 11 and 12 students.
“These outstanding facilities will help ensure students at Mindarie Senior College are encouraged to realise their full potential and attain their goals,” Ms Moylan said.
Ms Moylan officially opened the new facilities on behalf of the Australian Government and the Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon Dr Brendan Nelson.
Ms Moylan congratulated the school community on establishing the best possible facilities for students.
“I was very impressed by the positive culture at the school and the first class buildings,” she said.
In 2004 Mindarie is catering for more than 500 students.
She said the project demonstrated the Australian Government’s commitment to providing every student with the best possible learning environment through the provision of these new updated facilities.
