Children in Merriwa will benefit from extra parent support as a result of an extension of Australian Government funding to Unitingcare West Mofflyn for a further 12 months from July.
Member for Pearce, Hon Judi Moylan MP, today welcomed the funding extension announced by the Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Hon Mal Brough MP.
“This service will receive $106,000 in additional funding for the 2007-08 financial year under the Responding Early Assisting Children (REACh) program to assist the important work it provides,” Ms Moylan said.
“Local children in Merriwa and surrounding suburbs will benefit from this boost and families will continue to have access to this valuable service in Pearce.”
“It is important that services receiving Australian Government funding under the REACh program provide quality early childhood services to families.
“Today’s announcement will enable this service to continue to deliver a high standard of early childhood activities and support.
“I welcome the decision to extend funding to this service.”
The REACh program aims to improve parents’ capacity to respond appropriately to children’s needs and to better consider their safety, wellbeing and development.
