The Yanchep-Two Rocks RSL Sub-branch will hold a memorial service followed by a luncheon to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, with the help of a $1680 grant from the Commonwealth Government.
The funding comes under the commemorations program, Saluting Their Service, Member for Pearce Hon Judi Moylan MP said today.
“Saluting Their Service encourages the community to remember and honour the contribution made by Australians who have served in wars, conflicts and peace operations since Federation,” Ms Moylan said.
“The 40th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan is an important occasion and I am pleased that the sacrifices these servicemen made to our country will continue to be remembered.”
“I would like to congratulate the Yanchep-Two Rocks Sub-branch of the RSL on their application success and I am delighted that the Government was able to assist.”
Projects supported under the Saluting Their Service commemorations program have included the restoration and construction of community war memorials, displays of wartime memorabilia and commemoration of other significant wartime anniversaries.
