Local businesses and organisations in Pearce can now apply for funds through the Federal Government’s new $24 million Australian Tourism Development Program, Member for Pearce Judi Moylan said today.
“The Australian Tourism Development Program will offer grants ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 in two categories,” Ms Moylan said.
“I urge all local tourism operators and anyone looking to get started in the industry to get your applications in.
“The tourism industry boosts our local economy through additional expenditure, increased investment and by providing more jobs, particularly for young people.”
She said the Australian Tourism Development Program would provide local tourism organisations with funding to develop products, services and strategies to increase visitor numbers and encourage tourists to stay longer and travel further.
“The $24 million Australian Tourism Development Program was an initiative that flowed from the Australian Government’s $235 million Tourism White Paper, released last year.
The program will be administered by the Australian Government’s business unit, AusIndustry. The annual round will open on April 6, and close on 1 June 2004.
