Moylan supports winemakers

Following a recent meeting in Canberra to discuss targeted reforms to wine equalisation tax (WET), Member for Pearce Judi Moylan delivered a letter to the Prime Minister, signed by 44 of her parliamentary colleagues, asking for consideration to be given to the winemakers.
She said the current Federal, State and Local Government taxes placed an unfair burden on winemakers and the industry was now the highest taxed rural sector.
“Australia continues to have a high wine tax in relation many overseas competitors,” Ms Moylan said.
“The winemaking industry has been an important contributor to regional development.
“I will continue to work closely with the winemakers to ensure a fair and equitable tax for small and medium producers.”
