The Shire of Boddington is one of the successful recipients of a grant received under the National Emergency Volunteer Support Fund (NEVSF) this month. The Attorney General The Hon Philip Ruddock MP, announced that 400 groups across the country would receive funding through the NEVSF and the Local Grants Scheme (LGS).
Member for Pearce Judi Moylan MP said the $75,000 Federal grant will allow the Shire of Boddington to extend its Emergency Service premises and to construct a training area and additional appliance parking bays.
The NEVSF and the (LGS) programs were both announced in September 2004 as part of the Government’s Working Together to Manage Emergency policy.
“This excellent initiative recognises the need to develop self-reliance at both the community and Local Government levels in order to build our national preparedness for emergencies and disasters of all types, by providing practical support,” Ms Moylan said.
Applications under the LGS and the NEVSF programs for 2006-07 will be invited this month, with a closing date of 3 March, 2006. Program guidelines and forms will be available on the Emergency Management Australia website http://www.ema.gov.au/
