Member for Pearce Judi Moylan, today encouraged local community organisations in Pearce to apply for a share in up to $20 million in Australian Government funding under round three of the highly successful Local Answers initiative.
Ms Moylan welcomed the funding announcement by the Minister for Family and Community Services, Senator The Hon Kay Patterson.
“The Local Answers initiative, part of the Australian Government’s
$490 million Stronger Families and Communities Strategy, helps strengthen disadvantaged communities by funding local, small-scale, time limited projects,” Ms Moylan said.
“This funding will allow our communities to identify and develop local solutions to address local issues.
“Previous projects funded under the initiative have helped communities build better parenting and relationship skills, support mentoring and leadership programs and encourage access to training and education for young parents.
“To date, the Australian Government has approved more than $40 million to fund more than 260 projects. The total funding for Local Answers is $137 million over five years.
“This much needed funding will ensure our local organisations remain strong and viable by providing the necessary services for our community.
“I commend the Australian Government on delivering on its commitment to strengthen local communities and encourage community organisations in Pearce to apply for funding.”
