Clarkson Heights student wins Australian Government prize

Member for Pearce Judi Moylan today presented a certificate to Paul Jenkins, of Clarkson Heights.
Mr Jenkins, who attended Woodvale Senior High School, is the winner of an Australian Students Prize, an Australian Government initiative designed to give national recognition to academic excellence and achievement in secondary education, particularly in senior secondary years.
Ms Moylan congratulated Mr Jenkins on his efforts at a ceremony at her Perth office.
“I think this is a tremendous achievement and I expect is just the beginning of great things to come for him,” she said.
The prize comprises of a certificate and a payment of $2000.
Five hundred prizes are offered nationally each year.
Students are nominated for the prize by State and Territory Ministers for Education to the Federal Minister for Education, Science and Training, The Hon Dr Brendan Nelson.
There were 50 prize winners from Western Australia for the 2003 award.
