New school to be built - Two Rocks Primary School

Families and students in the Two Rocks community will benefit greatly from a new Primary School, which will be built in the area, according to Member for Pearce Judi Moylan. Work on the Two Rocks Primary School is due to start near the end of the year and the new primary school is expected to be operational by first term in 2007. “There was a need for a new school to accommodate the growing population in the area,” Ms Moylan said. “This is terrific news for Two Rocks.” The project is estimated to cost $6.5 million and the Australian Government’s contribution to this total will be $4.5 million. This funding comes under the Capital Grants Program. “The Australian Government will provide an estimated $33 billion in direct funding to our nation’s schools during 2005-08,” she said. “A key element of this funding package is about $2.5 billion for school capital works over the next four years, including an additional $1 billion committed during the Federal election campaign last year.” The Australian Government is committed to providing young Australians with access to quality schooling and education. Infrastructure plays an important part in ensuring children’s educational needs are catered for.
