Hon Judi Moylan

Narrogin local to represent young Australians in Canberra

Thirty youths have been selected from across Australia to represent the views of young people at the National Youth Roundtable 2005. “I am delighted to announce that eighteen-year-old Narrogin woman Danika Eades has been selected as a member of the National Youth Roundtable,” Ms Moylan said. “Her interests in youth issues include being an Ambassador for Aboriginal and other young people, ensuring they have mentors to inspire them and sport, recreation, entertainment and leadership in rural and regional areas. Members were selected across a wide range of cultural, working and educational backgrounds and they come from all States and Territories. Some are from metropolitan locations and others are from regional areas. “The members will bring together a range of viewpoints about issues affecting young people across Australia,” she said. Of the 450 applications only 30 people were selected. The first formal meeting of the National Youth Roundtable will be held in Canberra between the 2-9 September. The National Youth Roundtable gives people aged from 15 to 24 the opportunity to speak directly with the Government about issues which are important to them. For further information on the Roundtable visit the Australian Government’s national youth website www.thesource.gov.au or freecall 1800 624 309.
