The Prime Minister’s 2005 Employer of the Year Awards for people with disabilities are open for nominations, according to Member for Pearce Judi Moylan.
Ms Moylan today encouraged workers with disabilities to nominate deserving employers.
“There are many employers who understand that what counts in the workplace is a person’s ability, not their disability,” she said.
“The Prime Minister’s Employer of the Year Awards recognises leadership and innovation in employing people with disabilities.
“I am continually encouraged by those businesses and employers who take the employment of people with disabilities in their stride and show great flexibility and commitment to giving people a go.”
There are eight categories of Awards covering national, large, medium and small business as well as higher education and federal, state and local governments.
Nomination forms are available at www.workplace.gov.au/eya or by calling 13 17 15.
Nominations close on Friday, 2 September 2005 with the state and territory and national winners to be announced later this year.
