Member for Pearce Judi Moylan today announced $133,000 in funding through the Natural Disaster Mitigation Program for the Peel East, Avon South, South West Corner and Albany regions for the development of four emergency services maps directories.
Ms Moylan was pleased that areas in the electorate of Pearce would benefit from this Australian Government funding.
“The funding forms part of the $9 million available nationally under the Natural Disaster Mitigation Programme 2005-06 and builds on assistance provided to the project in previous years,” she said.
“The first directory to be published will target the Wheatbelt, which Pearce will benefit from.
“The Natural Disaster Mitigation program aims to identify and address natural disaster risk priorities across the nation.
“Funds are available for a range of measures that contribute to safer, sustainable communities, meaning they can better withstand the effects of natural disasters.
“This is an important project and I am pleased it has received Australian Government funding.”
