The Avon region will receive a boost to its agricultural sector with the announcement today of a Landcare project worth $119,293 in the area, by Member for Pearce Judi Moylan.
Ms Moylan said the funding, through the Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry portfolio, was for the Precision Agriculture Systems – impact on zone management, soil health and surface water management.
“The project will focus on using on-ground and extension works to demonstrate improvements in areas such as zone management, soil health and surface water management,” Ms Moylan said.
The project was one of 27 across the country which received funding through the Landcare scheme this time. They shared in nearly $2.9 million.
In addition, a separate funding announcement was made recently by State and Federal Environment and Agriculture Ministers, for $10 million to help prevent, stabilise and reverse trends in salinity throughout Western Australia.
