Organisations in the Pearce electorate are encouraged to apply for Australian Government funding for activities marking the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific, the Member for Pearce, Judi Moylan said today.
Ms Moylan said $1.5 million had been approved nation-wide by the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, De-Anne Kelly, to assist communities across Australia commemorate VP Day, which marked the end of World War 2.
“I am very pleased that $10,000 is available to the Pearce community to support projects and initiatives directly commemorating the 60th anniversary of VP Day on 15 August,” Ms Moylan said.
“I encourage local community groups to apply for this funding to help mark this important event in Australian history.
To be eligible projects should promote community participation, give recognition to World War 2 veterans and heighten public awareness of the significance of VP Day to Australia.
The funding is available through the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service community grants program.
