Member for Pearce Judi Moylan welcomed this year’s Federal Budget, which will see the Australian Government provide $63.5 million to roads, through AusLink, which fall in the Pearce electorate, by 2006-07.
“About $35 million has been allocated to complete the Great Eastern Highway duplication between Sawyers Valley and The Lakes,” Ms Moylan said.
“A further $3 million will be used to build the Clackline Bypass and $15 million will go towards continuing the upgrading program along 250 kilometres of the Great Northern Highway, which includes passing lanes between Muchea and Wubin.”
The Australian Government will also commit $10.5 million in 2006-07 towards the upgrade of the interchange at Great Eastern and Roe Highways.
“For some time I have been working with various community groups and local councils to see Pearce Roads upgraded.
“I was extremely pleased when the Federal Government provided funding to the Great Eastern and Great Northern Highways in Pearce, which were in need of repair to ensure the safety of Pearce residents and visitors alike.
“Improving the efficiency and safety of our roads is an important priority for Pearce residents.
“Ensuring upgrades happen is something I am dedicated to lobbying for in the Federal Parliament, in Canberra.”
