Businesses in Bullsbrook and surrounding areas could benefit from the announcement of $87 million in Federal funding for the RAAF Base Pearce, according to Member for Pearce Judi Moylan.
Ms Moylan said smaller construction companies in the local area would have the opportunity to put in a bid for the construction work, ranging from electrical to building and refurbishment.
The $87 million will be spent on a major upgrade to infrastructure, security, training and operational facilities.
“This is wonderful news for local businesses and a major boost to the occupational health and safety of the men and women at the base,” Ms Moylan said.
“RAAF Base Pearce is Australia’s principle Air Force flying training school and also provides operational support to exercises and deployments.”
“The existing base infrastructure is run-down and many of the facilities need to be upgraded. This will increase operational efficiency, which in some cases may not be currently working at an optimum level. I welcome this announcement by Federal Minister for Defence Robert Hill,” she said.
Ms Moylan said safety continued to be a number one priority at the base.
